Keyboard shortcut to highlight text in Google Docs (hack)

Simple (slightly hacky) way to do this:

(1) copy the formatting of text that’s already highlighted

  • mac: Cmd + Option + C
  • pc: Ctrl+Shift+C

(2) select the text you want to highlight

(3) paste the formatting

  • mac: Cmd + Option + V
  • pc: Ctrl+Shift+V

Only need to repeat steps 2 and 3 as you go through the document

This pastes ALL the formatting you copied (if bold and italic, it pastes that formatting too)

That’s it!
