Perhaps (not sure about this — just an idea) make it “Tab-agnostic,” meaning the cursor goes directly from month to day, or day to year, whether or not the Tab key is pressed. Otherwise, if I click Tab after entering the month (not realizing it’s seamless), I move on to the next field.
